Finishing Touches

May 2004

Laying the stones behind the pond. A neighbour kindly bought us our first pond plant.
We added some bamboo and some native weeds as cover for frogs and because we like them.
The finished border and beach area.
The view from behind the pond.
We used a spare piece of underliner under the pebbles of the beach as extra protection for the butyl liner.
The waterfall and pump in position. The fountain will not be a permanent fixture but we thought it would help to aerate the water until the plants are established.
The waterfall.
We added several litres of water from my sisters well established pond in order to introduce some micro organisms to the water.
We decided to buy turf to give an instant garden effect in the manner of Groundforce.
Laying some topsoil before turfing. Note the pond full of pea soup.
Instant garden!
After so many months of bare soil, all that green took some getting used to.

The garden `after'.
